The Clocksby Agatha Christie A Timely Murder
A hired typist, on arriving at her afternoon appointment, is shocked to discover a body sprawled across the living room floor.
The room is full of the clocks of the title.
What is the significance of the fact that four of these clocks are all stuck at 4.13?
Poirot investigates.
What is particularly sinister is that not all the clocks in the house belonged to the owner of the house.
After a promising start, the book takes some unpromising turns. There are too many coincidences, too many improbables for the story line to be truly gripping.
Sadly too, Poirot makes his appearance fairly late on in the story, and without his graceful side-kick, Hastings.
A reasonable murder mystery but one that doesn't live up to initial promise.
