Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkabanby JK Rowling
It had to happen. An unhappy chain of events. But it was inevitable. Harry Potter finds himself homeless. On the streets. Sitting on the kerb. Alone. Quite alone. But perhaps not completely alone? But what does it matter. He has lost it all now. For what he has done he must surely now be expelled from school. He has nothing left. Nothing but his anger, the trunk he has just packed, and his wand.
Prisoner of Azkaban starts as it is to continue - with tension and conflict. The story has a first rate plot, a completely unexpected conclusion - well maybe not completely unexpected - and gets there with a tremendous combination of plays on prophecy, time and characters with unfathomable motives. The narration and dialogue is upto the usual Potter standard, but the extent of tension, suspense and drama, not to mention sheer horror exceeds anything that has come before.
